SIGN: LIBERATION ABDULLAH ÖCALLAN

 

WHAT?

Collection of signatures to obtain the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, president of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

WHO?

International Initiative «Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan – Peace in Kurdistan». It is a peaceful and multinational peace initiative that seeks a solution to “the Kurdish problem.”

People and organizations who wish so, can join this signature campaign.

HOW?

The aim is to send as many signatures as possible to the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Organizations and individuals who wish to support this campaign with their signature must send an email to info@freeocalan.org (Subject: Campaign “The moment has come: Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan”)

WHERE?

Online, worldwide. Öcalan is imprisoned in Turkey and is not allowed to receive visits.

WHEN?

From now until 12/09/2020. On the 10th, the official list of signatories will be published.

HOW MANY?

Between 2013 and 2015, 10.3 million people around the world signed another declaration in favor of the release of Öcalan and other prisoners in Turkey. We hope to be more this time!

WHY?

In 2015, Turkish President Erdoğan, after ending several years of talks between the Turkish state, Abdullah Öcalan, and the PKK, launched a new stage of aggressive and violent escalation in Turkey, Iraq and Syria. In recent months, Erdoğan continues to wage war not only against the Kurds but also against all of Turkey’s neighbors, including Libya, Cyprus, the border with Greece and Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh.

Meanwhile, the peoples of northern and eastern Syria, inspired by Öcalan and his writings from prison, have transformed their land into an important bastion for peace, coexistence and democracy, despite constant military attacks from Turkey.

Öcalan’s freedom would mark a breakthrough for the democratization of Turkey and peace in Kurdistan.
