WHY?

Hundreds of thousands of people with mental health problems are in chains around the world, according to a report by Human Rights Watch. People with a mental health-related condition are chained or locked up in confined spaces for weeks, months, and even years in some 60 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Despite advances in several countries with regard to mental health care, chainings continue to be a largely hidden problem. There is no data or coordinated international or regional efforts to eradicate the chains. This brutal and anti-scientific practice must be eradicated for violating Human Rights.
