TAKE ACTION: COP26. CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE R.U. 2021
WHAT?
Actions for the Climate Change Conference (COP26) that will take place in Glasgow between 1 and 12 November 2021.
WHO?
Organizations and movements of civil society aware of the climate crisis.
HOW?
By collecting the initiative of governments and international institutions creating an alternative of action (inventory and climate agenda) and a space for strategy and coordination for the climate justice movement.
WHERE?
Online, by filling out a request form at https://glasgowagreement.net/en/contact/ and, later, through mobilizations or wherever the different organizations on the planet consider appropriate.
WHEN?
From now until 11/01/2021, the date to which the COP26 in Glasgow was postponed due to the Coronavirus crisis.
HOW MANY?
It will never be too many. Any mobilization is little to stop this unprecedented crisis.
WHY?
Because the climate crisis does not admit further delays. The XXI Conference on Climate Change (Paris Agreement, 2015) already established binding measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. To date, the actions of governments and companies are not addressing that direction. This way, it will not be possible to contain the increase in global temperature below 1.5ºC with respect to pre-industrial levels. If this is not achieved, the consequences for the planet’s biodiversity (including humans) will be catastrophic. It is time to act without further delay.
