WHY?
The packaging waste management system in Spain is controlled by ECOEMBES, a company that tries to pretend to be an environmental organization, but is actually made up of the same brands that flood us with plastic and has no interest in reducing disposable plastic, as it derives its revenue from consumed and discarded packaging.
Although the company claims that its recycling rate is 75%, the reality is that only 25% of plastic packaging is recycled. The rest ends up buried in landfills, exported to other countries with fewer resources, dumped into our fields and seas or incinerated, generating large amounts of CO2.
